Urgent Need for Volunteers in January and February
Despite the cold and snow, the need to feed our hungry neighbors continues, and we urgently need your help.
Please consider helping with these critical initiatives:
My Neighborhood Mobile Grocery – A nutrition-focused pop-up grocery that provides families and individuals who have limited access to affordable, healthy foods with a new shopping option within their communities. Volunteers are needed to greet shoppers, assemble orders, and assist with market set-up and tear-down. Two-hour weekday day and early evening shifts. Henry’s Groceries for Health – Ride in a van with a Gleaners staff member to assist in delivering boxes of food directly to people in need in their homes. Three to four hour weekday shifts originating at the Detroit warehouse. For more information and to share your availability, please contact Julie Ptasznik at jptasznik.
Mercado Pantry – Stock shelves or assist clients with selecting food at Gleaners southwest Detroit client-choice pantry. 3 – 4.5 hour weekday and Saturday shifts. To learn more and sign up: jptasznik.
Details about all Gleaners volunteer opportunities, including group opportunities at the distribution centers, may be found at www.gcfb.org.
Thank you for your generous past support and for your consideration. We are grateful.
